Echidnas Are Cool

This is an echidna who used to hang around my place when I lived in the country for 6 months. He was right next to the road this time and, unusually, pretty much ignored me. I suspect he got used to the movement near the road, and didn't realise I wasn't a car - I don't think they're all that bright.
I love the size of echidna claws, and their tiny little eyes.
I think echidnas would be well suited to surviving a zombie apocalypse.

    Yep, echidnas are way cool!
    Not least because they have an alarmingly bizzare reproductive system.
    The female has a double barrel vagina, while the male has a disproportionately large 4 headed penis that looks like a cross between ET and a chest burster out of aliens. They alternate ejaculating out of two of the four heads.
    Our repro lecturer showed us a video similar to the one below of a little guy who had kinda come to like being carried over the arm of one of the wildlife attendants.
    Scary looking thing. Wouldn't want to meet one in a dark alley. *shudder*

    But I still reckon they would make an awesome pet.
